ZAGREB, July 5 (Hina) - At the end of this week's sitting on Friday,
the Croatian Sabor considered, without a discussion, a Croatian
Peasant Party's (HSS) bill regulating the flour market, which is
aimed at combating illegal flour trade. #L#
The bill offers a series of measures that should do away with the
complete chaos and serious disturbances on the flour market.
Flour production is one third lower than the actual consumption,
while the production of baker's products is two-thirds lower, which
points to the existence of the grey market which causes direct
damage to the state budget.
Under the HSS bill, millers would have to mark flour with special
stamps issued by the Agriculture and Forestry Ministry.
The party considers that the bill will prevent the purchase of lower
quantities of wheat than those required for production as well as
the import of wheat of suspicious origin.
The Sabor will take a vote on this and other discussed bills on
Wednesday.
