ZAGREB, July 5 (Hina) - Croatia's parliament on Friday morning
adopted in the urgent procedure a law on the repossession of the
assets and property confiscated during the Yugoslav Communist
rule. #L#
The parliament bound the government to submit a report within six
months on possible problems in the enforcement of the law.
Under the law, the right to restitution and compensation will be
given not only to former owners who had Croatian citizenship at the
moment of the adoption of the law before it was amended, but also to
persons who were granted the citizenship later and even to foreign
nationals, if it is stipulated by bilateral agreements.
An extended group of persons entitled to the restitution could
lodge a request for damages within six months after the amended law
takes effect.
