SFOR spokesman Scott Lundy told reporters in Sarajevo the main
target of the operation was the Karadzic family residence and not
the former Bosnian Serb leader.
The SFOR will try to establish the extent of the smuggling and who is
involved, said Lundy.
He added the SFOR undertook operations against smugglers when it
estimated that their activities could undermine peace and
stability in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
In a statement about the operation carried out in Pale around 3 am
today, the SFOR said it discovered a certain quantity of firearms as
well as forged passports.
Lundy declined to say whose names were on the documents, stating
this was in the interest of the investigation and future
operations.
According to eyewitnesses of the Pale operation, SFOR's French
troops thoroughly searched the Karadzic family residence. Only the
caretaker was there. He was let go after the search was over.
Karadzic's wife, Ljiljana later told reporters the SFOR break-in
had been entirely inappropriate.
