ZAGREB, July 1 (Hina) - Croatia's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the first quarter of 2002 increased by 4.6 percent in relation to the same period the year before, the Central Bureau of Statistics said in a statement on
Monday.

This is one of the highest GDP rates in the last 10 quarters.
Croatia's GDP for 2001 increased by 4.1 percent in real value, in
relation to the year before.
Statistical data on the calculation of GDP, according to the
categories of expenditure, show that the greatest contribution to
GDP in the first quarter are personal consumption and investments.
Investments in capital stock increased by 9.4 percent, while
personal consumption increased by six percent.
Budgetary expenditure increased by 2.4 percent in relation to the
fist quarter of 2001. At the same time, the export of goods and
services dropped by 0.6 percent, while the import of goods and
services increased by 7.7 percent.
