The president of fishermen's department at the Buje Craftsmen
Association, which is the organiser of the protest, Danijele Kolec,
told reporters that Lucin had forbidden the rally for reason of
possible endangerment for people's safety.
Istrian fishermen wanted to express their dissatisfaction with the
actions and negotiations Zagreb was conducting with Slovenia on the
definition of the border on that part of the sea.
"Instead of fighting for state interests as Croatian people fought
and died for freedom in the Homeland War, you are selling territory
to Slovenia tete-a-tete. Resign," Kolec sent a message to Prime
Minister Ivica Racan.
