ZAGREB, June 17 (Hina) - Industrial production in Croatia in May 2002 increased by 3.8 percent in relation to May last year, the Central Bureau of Statistics reported on Monday.

Industrial output in the first five months of this year increased by
three percent in relation to the same period last year.
Compared to the average monthly production in May last year,
industrial production in May this year rose by 7.9 percent.
The growth is the result of a 6.7-percent increase in the production
of intermediary products (not including power), a 4.6-percent rise
in the production of non-durable consumer goods, and a 0.2-percent
increase in power production.
At the same time, the production of capital goods dropped by 3.8
percent and of durable consumer goods by 1.6 percent.
According to the national activity classification, the highest
rise of production was recorded in mining - 28.3 percent.
Production in manufacturing industry, which accounts for 83.33
percent of Croatia's industrial production, rose by 2.1 percent.
Production in power, gas, and water supply sectors increased by 3.7
percent.
The highest climb in production, of 53.8 percent, was recorded in
the extraction of other minerals and stone, the production of
cellulose, paper, and paper products (41.7 percent), and the
printing industry (24.7 percent).
The production of radio and television sets and communication
equipment dropped by 38.3 percent, while the production of office
equipment and computers dropped by 24.7 percent.
