DUBROVNIK, June 7 (Hina) - Vice-president of the Croatian Party of
Rights (HSP) Tonci Tadic said in Dubrovnik Friday that the conduct
of SFOR members whose helicopter recently landed in Dubrovnik
without the permission of Croatian authorities was impermissible,
as was the recent exercise by the Croatian and US air forces held in
Istria ahead of the chief tourist season. #L#
"Croatia only recently rid itself of the war-zone image and any
military exercise is detrimental to our tourism and does not go hand
in hand with Croatia's efforts to become a successful tourist
destination," Tadic told a news conference.
He said that the HSP dismissed naive suppositions by a part of
Croatian politicians that by conceding to international forces
Croatia would access NATO more easily.
"Croatia will be Philippinised," he said.
Tadic added that it was unthinkable that a nuclear ship of submarine
sail into Nice or Monte Carlo as had happened in Dubrovnik last
year.
He concluded that "all this is bringing Croatia's credibility as a
sovereign state into question".
