ZAGREB, June 6 (Hina) - The Croatian National Bank (HNB) on Thursday intervened in the foreign exchange market by purchasing the euro for the second time this month, in an effort to stop a further rise in the value of the
kuna.

At an auction held today, the central bank bought EUR97.7 million at
the average rate of 7.35535 kuna per euro.
At an auction on Wednesday the bank purchased 20.7 million euros at
7.365744 kuna per euro.
According to the HNB exchange rate for Thursday, the kuna rose by
0.45 percent against the euro in relation to Wednesday. The mean
rate of exchange of the euro amounts to 7.344710 kuna.
The exchange rate of the US dollar fell by 0.44 percent against the
kuna, to 7.842723 under the mean exchange rate.
