A monumental plaque in honour of this great Croatian writer was
unveiled in the building of the Medical Faculty in Pecs where the
Hungarian Royal Cadet School once stood that Krleza attended.
The plaque was unveiled by Croatian General-Consul in Pecs Zvonimir
Maric and the Head of the Croatian Lexicographic Institute,
Tomislav Ladan.
The gathering was greeted by Pecs Mayor Laszlo Toller and the dean
of the Medical Faculty, Dr. Emil Fisher, and the head of the
Miroslav Krleza Lexicographic Institute, Vlaho Bogisic, who
welcomed the gathering on behalf of Croatia's Culture Minister,
Antun Vujic.
After the unveiling of the plaque, an exhibition of works by
Miroslav Krleza was opened in the Croatian August Senoa Club. The
exhibition was premiered in Zagreb last year on the occasion of the
20th anniversary of Krleza's death.
Krleza's Days in Pecs will end Thursday evening in the Pecs City
Theatre with Krleza's "Kroatenlager", directed by Zlatko Vitez.
