Since Croatia's becoming a full member in 1993, the World Bank and
its International Financial Corporation and the Multilateral
Investment Guarantee Agency have approved significant funds
through numerous loans, deeds of donation and guarantees primarily
intended for reconstruction, the building of the infrastructure,
structural adjustment, and development.
Among the projects being drawn up, the most important include the
modernisation of the Rijeka Port and the building of a Rijeka ring
road, and eco-friendly water supply and drainage in coastal areas.
Each of these two projects is worth US$150 million. The rest is
envisaged for the modernisation of land and cadastral books,
investments in the pension system, and a loan to the HEP power
supply company for town heating plants.
