devastated in the war. The exhibition displayed five restored Vukovar artefacts returned last December 13 from Novi Sad (Serbia) together with other Vukovar treasures that were confiscated during the occupation of Vukovar in 1991.
VUKOVAR, May 2 (Hina) - An exhibition was opened on Thursday in the
yet unreconstructed marble hall of the Vukovar Eltz castle, heavily
devastated in the war. The exhibition displayed five restored
Vukovar artefacts returned last December 13 from Novi Sad (Serbia)
together with other Vukovar treasures that were confiscated during
the occupation of Vukovar in 1991. #L#
Vukovar's public was shown restored oil canvases by Celestin Mate
Medovic, Nikola Masic, Mirona Makanec and Ljudevit Sestic, all
belonging to the Bauer collection, as well as the piece "View of
Vukovar" by Josip Franjo Mueck, which belongs to the Vukovar City
Museum.
Of the 1,800 artefacts in the Bauer collection, 1,200 have been
returned to the Vukovar City Museum and brought to Zagreb to be
restored.
