Croatia is among the 20 new states which were elected to the
Commission. Their three-year mandate starts on Jan. 1, 2003.
ECOSOC has nine so-called functional commissions, and Croatia is
now a member of seven.
This year ECOSOC is chaired by Croatia's permanent representative
to the United Nations, Ivan Simonovic.
