experts should not have been excluded from negotiations on the

"Experts know best how the issue has to be settled, and only then can
politicians make decisions," Mesic said during a reception for
representatives of the Slovene-Croatian Friendship Society.
Added Mesic, "It is questionable if Croatia has a safe area for
dealing with the waste after the nuclear power plan has been closed
down."
"Some say it is safe but I wouldn't risk. Experts and scientists
should say that, and a decision will then easily be made," he said.
Mesic said he entrusted his adviser on science and ecology to
examine all the effects of the Croatian-Slovene agreement on Krsko,
and that he would take a final stand only then.
In connection with the privatisation of the oil company INA and
other oil systems, Mesic said it should not be expedited.
"We mustn't get rid of something so valuable only to patch up the
budget as we're then waiving the profit which will go to someone
else," said Mesic.
Decisions on such matters must be made by many people and must not be
rushed, he added.
