MOSTAR, April 24 (Hina) - The U.N. Mission to Bosnia-Herzegovina
has stripped two policemen - Almir Nuhic from Konjic and Ante Kresic
from Stolac - of their authority to perform police duties, the
spokeswoman for the U.N. Mission Office in Mostar, Kirsten Haupt,
said on Wednesday. #L#
Haupt explained that the U.N. Mission had checked up war files and
established that Nuhic was involved in the activities surrounding
the Celebici war camp (near Konjic). The Celebici war camp is
considered to be one of larger camps in Herzegovina where Bosniak
forces and war authorities held Croats and Serbs, some of whom -
according to Croatian sources - were killed there.
Kresic has been stripped of police authorities because he has been
indicted by the Mostar Canton Court for crimes committed against
Bosniaks in Stolac in 1993. Kresic is now awaiting trial, Haupt
said.
