MOSTAR, April 23 (Hina) - Members of a training camp Pogorelica near
the eastern Bosnian town of Fojnica, who were trained by members of
the Iranian intelligence service, seven years ago prepared the

Presidency member Fikret Abdic, said sources at the Interior

Filipovic, considered one of the leading Bosniak intellectuals in
the past several decades, said in an interview on Federation TV on
Monday he had information that his liquidation had been prepared at
Pogorelica camp.
In the early 1990s, Filipovic disagreed with Bosnian leader Alija
Izetbegovic's policy and has been criticising it consistently
since.
At the first multiparty elections in Bosnia in the early 1990s,
Fikret Abdic, a candidate for the Bosniak member of the state
presidency, won more votes than Izetbegovic, but by behind-the-
scenes manoeuvring, which was never clarified, Izetbegovic was
elected presidency chairman instead of Abdic.
Abdic enters a political conflict with Izetbegovic, leaves
Sarajevo and returns to the western Bosnian Cazinska Krajina
region, where he continues conducting a policy which was not loyal
to Izetbegovic.
This resulted in military clashes in the region between Abdic's
supporters and members of the Bosnian army, who were loyal to
Izetbegovic. Several hundred Bosniaks were killed in the
conflicts.
Abdic is now on trial as a Croatian citizen at the Karlovac County
Court. His trial was requested by the authorities in Sarajevo,
which four years ago, at the time of Izetbegovic's rule, accused him
of war crimes against Bosniaks.
In the mid-1990s, unidentified persons tried to kill Abdic near the
northern Adriatic city of Rijeka. The perpetrators remain
unknown.
