OSIJEK, April 22 (Hina) - The trial of Milos Loncar from the Baranja
village of Jagodnjak, accused of war crimes against civilians,
started at the Osijek County Court on Monday. #L#
Loncar is accused of having commanded a Serb paramilitary artillery
unit between September 1991 and May 1992 and ordering his soldiers
to attack civilian facilities in Osijek and nearby villages.
A large number of civilians was killed and many suffered serious or
light injuries in the attacks. Damage caused to the facilities was
considerable.
Loncar has been in custody at the Osijek County Prison since last
September. He has pleaded not guilty.
