MOSTAR, April 12 (Hina) - Following a meeting with representatives
of Croat political parties in Mostar, Croatian Foreign Minister
Tonino Picula stated that Friday's talks indicated varying
attitudes to constitutional amendments, that is, to the Sarajevo
Agreement on Constitutional amendments on the constitutionality of
all three peoples on the entire region of Bosnia-Herzegovina. #L#
Picula did not specify what "differences" he was referring to, but
some of today's participants at the meeting explained that
representatives of the ruling Alliance for Changes - the New
Croatian Initiative and the Bosnian Croatian Peasants' Party -
persevered in adopting the Sarajevo Agreement which was however,
opposed by representatives of parties gathered in the Croatian
National Assembly of Bosnia.
Picula told reporters that they discussed the possibilities of
reaching a consensus between Bosnian Croat political parties on the
Sarajevo Agreement, that is constitutional amendments. According
to Picula, there are elements about which such a consensus could be
reached and it was agreed that all Bosnian Croat political parties
would meet in Sarajevo next Monday and once again consider the
position of Croats in Bosnia in light of the Agreement.
The president of the Croatian National Community, Milenko Brkic,
who will preside Monday's meeting stated that the Sarajevo
Agreement was "on the path of finding a solution for Croats in
Bosnia", and as he explained, the meeting on Monday should focus on
finding improvements to constitutional amendments in favour of
Croats.
President of the New Croatian Initiative, Kresimir Zubak, said that
it was concluded at today's meeting that one of the corrections to
the amendments could be the method of electing the president and
vice president of the Bosnian Federation with the aim of protecting
the position of Croats.
