Ingrid Anticevic Marinovic held talks with the Council of Europe's
Secretary-general, Walter Schwimmer, in Strasbourg on Wednesday.
the talks focused on cooperation between Croatia and the Council of

Schwimmer commended the progress achieved in Croatia in the fields
of strengthening democracy and the political system, the rule of
law and protection of human rights, as well as significant results
in the implementation of obligations assumed during Croatia's
joining this oldest European organisation, the Justice Ministry
said in a statement.
Marinovic and Scwhimmer both expressed wish for a future
continuation of cooperation, especially in legal issues, as well as
through Croatia's future joining key legal instruments of the
Council of Europe. Marinovic informed Schwimmer about the started
reforms of the judicial system and difficulties Croatia is facing
in their implementation.
Marinovic also met the secretary-general of the Council of Europe's
Parliamentary Assembly, Bruno Haller, with whom she spoke about the
implementation of commitments assumed during Croatia's accession
into the Council of Europe.
During the talks, the senior officials of the Council of Europe
expressed special interest in the issue of passing the amended
Constitutional Law on the rights of national minorities, as of
Croatia's key obligations.
Marinovic informed the two officials about the establishment of a
special government working group for drawing up laws, and the
government's wish for the law to be passed as soon as possible.
