In the letter Stanimirovic said that this and similar incidents
could have wider negative consequences on relations among peoples
and overall policy of understanding and tolerance.
After the attack on Cupkovic, Sibenik police on Tuesday brought
Hrvoje Cacic, 29, to the county investigative centre for
questioning, and filed charges against him.
According to a police report, Cacic first verbally and then
physically assaulted Cupkovic at a cafe in Knin on Monday,
apparently for no valid reason.
Threatening him, Cacic smashed an empty beer bottle over Cupkovic's
head, and after Cupkovic fell down, he hit him several times in the
chest with his foot.
Cupkovic sustained light injuries with the possibility of becoming
heavy injuries, and was medically assisted at Knin hospital.
Cacic was given a test for alcohol which read 1.19 per milles.
Charges will also be filed against Cacic for insulting police
officers, under the Law on Violating Public Peace and Order.
