Commenting on the aggressiveness of Serb demonstrators, Feller
said that he would not allow for "hordes and criminals to thwart the
work of the police in any town in Kosovo". Commander John Meil, in
charge of the UNMIK police for Kosovska Mitrovica also condemed the
disturbances.
Conflicts arose between specialist forces of the international
police in Kosovo, when the police had to use tear gas, rubber
bullets and shock mortars, resulted when Serb nationals attempted
to prevent international police forces from setting up mobile
monitoring points.
Serb representatives accused UNMIK for inciting the incident.
During the day, several thousand Serbs gathered again to protest
and demanding that a Serb national, arrested during Monday's
disturbances, be released.
