Did Jajce fall before or after troops under your command burnt most
Moslem houses in Prozor, Scott asked Praljak, a former commander of
the Croatian Defence Council (HVO), who testified about the
situation in Jajce. Scott reminded Praljak that he had previously
stated he did in fact command HVO troops in Prozor in the autumn of
1992.
Praljak replied he had arrived in Prozor a little after "the
incident", at the request of the former Croatian president Franjo
Tudjman and Bosnian president Alija Izetbegovic, to settle the
situation.
The prosecutor showed Praljak a report by an officer under him,
Juergen Smidt, that "Prozor is under control", and "ethnically
clean", as well as that the "Moslem residents were detained or
fled".
Asked about whether he, as a HVO commander, commanded and was
responsible for activities of the "Mrmak" anti-terrorist unit
which is accused for war crimes, Naletilic's defence attorney
Kresimir Krsnik objected, saying that the Trial Chamber should warn
the witness that he could be liable for prosecution should he
reply.
Trial Chamber president Liu Daqun told Krsnik it was he
responsibility when he called Praljak as a witness.
The cross-examination of Praljak will continue Monday.
