ZAGREB, April 3 (Hina) - In 2001 Croatia's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) rose by 4.1 percent in real terms as against 2000, the State Bureau of Statistics said on Wednesday.

(GDP) rose by 4.1 percent in real terms as against 2000, the State

Compared to 2000, GDP rose by 4.2 percent in the first quarter of
2001, by 4.7 percent in the second, by four percent in the third, and
by 3.4 percent in the last quarter.
Broken down by spending categories, the last quarter saw a strong
increase in investments into capital (16.7 percent) following
three quarters of mild slowing down.
State spending was decreased, by 2.2 percent, for the seventh
quarter in a row, while personal spending rose by four percent.
A 10.9 percent increase was recorded in the export and a 1.7 percent
increase in the import of goods and services.
In the last quarter of 2001 GDP totalled 42.14 billion kuna (EUR5.7
billion) in current prices and 34.37 billion (EUR4.6 billion) in
constant prices (1997).
In 2000 GDP was 3.7 percent higher in real terms than in 1999.
