ZAGREB'S SDP: SDP/HNS COALITION MEANINGLESS

ZAGREB, March 26 (Hina) - The Zagreb coalition comprising the Social Democrats (SDP) and the Croatian People's Party is pointless, president of the Zagreb SDP City Committee Ivo Jelusic said on Tuesday evening after a session of the committee at which Zagreb mayor Vlasta Pavic submitted her resignation. Zagreb's SDP positively assessed the work or mayor Pavic over the last month, but accepted her reasons for the resignation, Jelusic told reporters. Asked whether she would submit an official resignation at a City Council session, scheduled for March 28, Pavic said she had not decided yet. Jelusic said this was a technical issues on which party officials still had to agree. Asked whether Zagreb's SDP would within 30 days after Pavic's resignation offer a new candidate, Jelusic said neither Pavic nor former mayor Milan Bandic were at issue. According to him, Zagreb's HNS does not accept grounds for new cooperation.
