Sylvester, said on Friday that SFOR would continue to conduct
operations aiming at arresting war crime suspects, including
Radovan Karadzic and Ratko Mladic.
Asked whether he believed that the most wanted war criminal was
still hiding in Bosnia, the SFOR commander said he couldn't say
where Karadzic was at this moment.
General Sylvester said the arrest of war criminals was primarily
the responsibility of local authorities. He said, however, the SFOR
would continue to search for war crime suspects.
Commenting on the security situation in Bosnia, particularly in the
light of the closing down of the US Embassy in Bosnia due to
terrorist threats, Sylvester said he could not comment on decisions
of the US authorities. He said the SFOR was conducting an on-the-
spot-investigation.
The situation is changing every day, he said. Bosnia today is
definitely safer than six years ago, the SFOR general said.
