ZADAR, March 20 (Hina) - The trial against Zorana Banic, accused of war crimes against civilians in the village of Skabrnja in 1991, before the Zadar County Court resumed on Wednesday with the testimony of six witnesses. Some of them confirmed they had seen Banic in Skabrnja, armed with a machine gun, on the day many Croat villagers were executed. #L# Neven Segaric was 11 years old at the time of the Serb occupation of Skabrnja. He told the court he had seen Banic in the village on November 18, 1991. Banic was wearing a uniform and was armed with a machine gun, Segaric said, adding that the defendant kept saying "Ustashi" children had to be killed. According to the witness, he and two other boys were taken to Benkovac by Serb paramilitary troops. In the van which carried them was Zorana Banic, who he said was holding a machine gun pointed at him and the other two boys. Segaric said he had given the same statement to investigators of the international war crimes tribunal last year. Banic's trial continues on Thursday. Around 20 witnesses have been questioned so far.
