The Chief Prosecutor of the Hague war crimes tribunal, Carla del
Ponte, informed the U.N. Security Council last November that the
prosecution intended to complete investigations into crimes
committed in former Yugoslavia, including Kosovo and Macedonia, by
2004.
The investigations, del Ponte said, could result in 34 indictments
against 108 persons. The prosecution estimates that half the cases
could be processed by national courts.
