BELGRADE, March 7 (Hina) - A Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) delegation on Thursday demanded from Yugoslav President Vojislav Kostunica that his government provide guarantees for Slobodan Milosevic, former Yugoslav president indicted
for war crimes and genocide in The Hague, so that he could defend himself in freedom. After the meeting, socialists' spokesman Branko Ruzic said SPS demanded that the government pay the costs of Milosevic's defense in The Hague, and establish a documentation centre to provide assistance to all Yugoslav citizens accused in The Hague. According to Ruzic, Kostunica told the SPS delegates that their requests have "constitutional grounds," but that he was not authorised to commit himself. The Yugoslav parliament and the government must decide on this, Kostunica said.(hina) np sb
