ZAGREB, March 5 (Hina) - Ivo Latin, the last chairman of the Presidency of the Socialist Republic of Croatia, was honoured at a commemoration service at the Croatian President's Office on Tuesday. Latin died on Sunday at the age of
73. All speakers said Latin's role was crucial as Yugoslavia broke up and Croatia gained independence. President Stjepan Mesic, Parliament Speaker Zlatko Tomcic, Premier Ivica Racan, parliament representatives and ministers paid their respects to Latin. Leaders of the former Socialist Republic of Croatia and the last president of the Federal executive council, Ante Markovic, also attended the commemoration service.
