ZAGREB, Feb 20 (Hina) - Zagreb's Archbishop Josip Bozanic on
Tuesday night assessed that the basic principle of the development
of social future in Croatia was the precedence of man over things,
because man had an unalienable dignity.
"Croatia's social future is our perspective, our true development
and progress," Bozanic said opening a forum entitled "Croatia's
Social Future", the first in a total of four forums being organised
by the Centre for the Promotion of the Church's Social Teaching this
year.
The second principle used as inspiration for action in the
principle of solidarity, Bozanic said. "One cannot allow for an
individual or a community to be deprived of elementary elements of a
dignified life because of a game of economic or political
interests," he added.
The following principle is the principle of subsidiary- this
principle is important for the development of true democracy. It
has a universal value and must be applied at all levels of
associations and against numerous violations which may be done by
the state, he said.
The fourth principle is the laity of the state, Bozanic said, adding
that the state was an advisory reality, and as such, it did not
impose any special philosophical, theological or cultural concept
on anyone.
"These are elementary principles inspiring up while we think about
Croatia's future and, as Christians, we want to live by them, giving
our irreplaceable contribution to the creation of a social
Croatia," Bozanic concluded.
