ZAGREB, Feb 19 (Hina) - The Croatian Television on Monday evening
said the "Latinica" talk show which should have discussed if
Croatia needed a law against the Ustasha ideology, which was to air
Monday night, did not air due to unprofessional and irresponsible
author's report with explicit political evaluations and
judgements.
The Croatian Television editor-in-chief, Jasna Ulaga Valic, said
the editor of entertainment programme, Velimir Djuretic, received
the show for a review in duration of 114 minutes (whereas the
approved time for the show is 90 minutes)some time after noon on
Monday.
Djuretic informed Ulaga Valic around 2:30PM on Monday he had
serious objections to parts of the show, primarily to a report by
Elizabeta Penic, entitled "Croatien lager", in which she says
"...six decades after (Auschwitz, Jasenovac), infamous Tudjman's
regime, in lack of good paths of historical reality, proved
concentrations camp still appeared as a lovely solution to minority
issues".
"The code of journalism does not allow a journalist to state own
explicit political assessments and judgements, but, based on
objective information, enable the viewers to create their own
standpoints", the statement read.
Ulaga Valic said "the next unprofessional approach and author's
irresponsibility was obvious in pictures of unidentified camp and
detainees which suggest that concentration camp in Tudjman's
regime appeared as a lovely solution to minority issues".
The statement read Ulaga Valic asked Denis Latin, the author of the
show, to come for talks while there was still time to make certain
changes in the report, but Latin, unfortunately did not respond.
Latin said yesterday he "had not been informed about this".
