ZAGREB, Feb 18 (Hina) - One of the main priorities of the Croatian
foreign policy are relations with the neighbouring Bosnia-
Herzegovina, the Croatian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on
Monday.
"The Croatian government is doing, and will do everything to
contribute to the better functioning of Bosnian central
institutions, and all its moves will focus on that. Because of the
importance of the moment in Bosnia, in light of constitutional
changes, the Croatian government is making efforts to do everything
in a transparent manner and with the consent of the other side", the
ministry said in the statement.
According to the ministry, formal and informal contacts are being
held with Bosnia's central political bodies, representatives of
Croats in these bodies, as well as with other relevant factors of
Bosnia's political scene.
The statement read "the Croatian government called all parties
which represent Croats in Bosnian institutions for a consultative
meeting in Zagreb, with the aim of better insight into opinions of
the Croat corps on constitutional changes in Bosnia, having in mind
that all Croat parties in Bosnia agreed on these changes".
"Without any intention to interfere with Bosnia's internal
affairs, the Croatian government only wishes to understand
expectations and requests by political representatives of Croats
in the neighbouring country, and contribute to the finding of an
optimal solution for their status in the entire Bosnia, which is
certainly in the interest of the other two constituent peoples. All
members of the ruling coalition in Bosnia were informed on the
meeting on time through diplomatic courses and have been invited to
participate", the ministry said.
"The Croatian government will maintain relations with all relevant
factors in Bosnia, respecting Bosnia's constitutional
institutions, as it was in its interest to see a safe, stable and
self-sustainable Bosnia. Croatia's diplomacy on this occasion also
expresses readiness for all forms of communication with the Bosnian
government aimed at resolving and removing misunderstandings, and
continuing the development of good neighbourly and friendly
relations", the statement concluded.
