ZAGREB, Feb 8 (Hina) - Defence Minister Jozo Rados applauds the
stance the vice presidents of his party (HSLS) voiced on Friday to
the effect that party bodies should be the ones to discuss the
performance and responsibilities of the five HSLS ministers.
Asked if the five ministers (himself, Economy Minister Goranko
Fizulic, Health Minister Andro Vlahusic, Science Minister Hrvoje
Kraljevic, Deputy PM Goran Granic) would insist on resigning
together even though the HSLS (Social Liberals) bodies assessed
some should keep their posts, Rados said later today that at the
moment there were no arguments why some should and others not
resign.
As for claims that the return of the five ministers into
parliamentary seats would divide the HSLS and they be an opposition
to party president Drazen Budisa, Rados said that if they resigned
and became MPs they would work towards making a positive
contribution to the government's work and not towards the
destruction of the HSLS.
The basic idea is to make moves which are good for the party, the
government, and the state, despite disagreements on some elements
of the Social Liberals' policy, said Rados.
Alojz Tusek, the minister of maritime affairs, transport and
communications who was ousted from the HSLS, said tonight he
supported the ministers' position that party bodies should debate
on their remaining in the government or not.
"I too believe that government ministers cannot be recalled and
replaced without proper analyses of their performance, without
arguments, criteria or an agreement," said Tusek.
He asserted he was ousted from the HSLS for implementing the policy
of the coalition government and participating in the passing of
legally and constitutionally valid decisions.
