ZAGREB, Feb 8 (Hina) - The basic rate for pension and health contributions will be raised from 1,700 to 1,800 kuna monthly, representatives of the government, unions, and employers agreed at a session of the Economic Social Council on
Friday. This means the lowest salary in Croatia will be 1,800 kuna (EUR238.4). The head manager of the Croatian Employers' Union, Zeljko Ivancevic, said this was only a temporary solution, and that the lowest salaries would be agreed on in branch work agreements. He announced the social partners would propose to the government by the end of March an integral salary scheme and a proposal for the reduction of the price of labour through tax relief.(hina) ha
