SARAJEVO DISSATISFIED WITH KLEIN'S EXPLANATIONS

SARAJEVO, Feb 8 (Hina) - The Bosnia-Herzegovina Foreign Ministry is not satisfied with the explanation of te head of the UN Mission to Bosnia, Jacques Klein, regarding his recent statement that Bosnia- Herzegovina was never a state in history. "We are not satisfied with the explanation of the Ambassador Klein, spokesman for the Bosnian Foreign Ministry Amer Kapetanovic told reporters in Sarajevo on Friday. In connection with this issue, Foreign Minister Zlatko Lagumdzija on Thursday forwarded a special letter to Ambassador Klein, expressing concern over Ambassador's statements to Croatian Television (HTV). We believe that a UN official cannot interpret his statements as statements given on private occasion, Kapetanovic said. Sarajevo demanded explanations from the UN headquarters in New York. "We would like to know whether Klein's statements are also the official standpoint of the United Nations," the spokesman said. Following instructions from New York, Klein has forwarded a letter to Minister Lagumdzija expressing regret about the way in which his statements about the situation in the country, recently given to Croatian Television, have been interpreted. Klein explained they were private statements which did not aim at bringing into question Bosnia and Herzegovina's sovereignty. (hina) it
