LJUBLJANA, Jan 23 (Hina) - Slovenia on Tuesday submitted to the
Geneva-based World Trade Organisation secretariat a demand for a
debate on a decree banning the road transport of oil and oil
products in Croatia which it considers contentious, it was said in
Ljubljana on Wednesday.
The WTO Trade Council will address the request on Feb. 11, the state
under-secretary at the Slovene Economy Ministry, Dimitrij Grcar,
told the Slovene news agency STA. He added Slovenia's demand was
supported by Hungary, and informally by the European Union as
well.
At the February session Slovenia will raise the question of the
damage caused by the Croatian decree, and notify the Energy Charter
Secretariat in Brussels.
This is the current stance of the Slovene government which, by
internationalising the issue, is implementing the first counter-
measure to the Croatian decree. Although the decree has been
revoked, Slovenia is dissatisfied and seeks returning the transit
of oil and oil products to the level before the decree was passed.
