MOSTAR, Jan 3 (Hina) - The newly appointed head of the National Security Service (SNS), the Bosnian Croat intelligence service, Ivan Vuksic, confirmed on Thursday the SNS had discontinued providing protection to the former member of
the Bosnia-Herzegovina Presidency, Ante Jelavic. "We are an intelligence service which protects state institutions and institutions of authorities, and not political parties, their facilities and officials. In case Jelavic performed any state duty, he too would be a protected person", Vukusic told the Mostar daily "Dnevni List". The High Representative in Bosnia, Wolfgang Petritsch, ousted Jelavic from the Bosnian state presidency and the Croatian Democratic Union party in spring 2001 after Jelavic advocated Bosnian Croat self-government.(hina) np
