Jovanovic did not appear in The Hague on Thursday because the Dutch
Embassy in Belgrade did not issue him a visa.
ICTY spokesman Jim Landale said the visa problems were somewhat
surprising because several days ago the tribunal's Secretariat
forwarded to the embassy documents necessary for the issuing of
visas to Jovanovic and his attorneys.
Jovanovic told ICTY investigators that he had revealed the identity
of the protected witness in order to increase his paper's
circulation, even though he was aware it could jeopardise the
safety of the witness. According to the indictment, the witness
received death threats after his identity was revealed.
Jovanovic faces a sentence of up to seven years in prison or a fine
of up to EUR100,000 or a combination of the two.
