ZAGREB, Nov 25 (Hina) - Representatives of railway companies from
the countries through which the 10th European rail corridor passes
on Tuesday signed a declaration on the application of the European
Train Control System (ETCS). #L#
The declaration, which envisages the introduction of the ETCS by
2006, was signed in Zagreb by representatives of Croatia, Slovenia,
Serbia-Montenegro, Bulgaria and Hungary, as well as by an official
of the international rail union (UIC).
The ETCS is a part of the European Rail Traffic Management System
(ERTMS), launched by the Geneva-based UN commission for Europe with
the aim of creating a united rail market in the EU and neighbouring
countries.
The European Union is willing to financially assist the application
of the ETCS along the 10th corridor.
