ZAGREB, Nov 13 (Hina) - Croatian President Stjepan Mesic has bestowed high state decorations on foreign nationals and institutions on the occasion of the 125th anniversary of the Croatian Red Cross, the President's Office said in a
statement on Thursday.

institutions on the occasion of the 125th anniversary of the

The decorations were awarded for acts of selfless humanitarian help
to Croatia during and after the war in the country.
Among those who were awarded are Prince Henry of Denmark, Princess
Margaret of the Netherlands, the president of the Swedish Red
Cross, Christina Magnusson, a former UNHCR High Commissioner,
Sadako Ogata, senior Red Cross officials from Germany, Great
Britain, Italy, Norway, Japan and Austria, and the president of the
International Federation of the Red Cross, Mario Villaroel of
Venezuela.
Numerous representatives of foreign media were awarded charters
for their exceptional contribution to the promotion of Croatia's
international position as well as for encouraging institutions and
citizens throughout the world to help Croatia during the war.
