In its latest issue, due to appear on Sunday, Croatia's Catholic
weekly says the Nov. 23 parliamentary ballot is a historic moment
which "can and should help transform current Croatian society, in
the area of politics, from a totalitarian into a truly free and
democratic society, in the area of the economy, from a plan-based
into a social and market economy, and in the area of conscience,
from a formally ideologised and atheist approach to reality into a
free pluralist society with a fully functioning legal system".
Glas Koncila says that all candidates are expected to conduct fair
campaigns and refrain from contributing to dangerous and
undesirable rifts within society.
Constituents, notably those already decided about who they will
vote for, are expected to bear in mind the good of the nation and not
see or treat those with a different opinion as enemies or
adversaries but as fellow citizens who have opinions of their own,
which is their basic right, Glas Koncila said in its latest
editorial.
