The Tekstil company has launched a lawsuit against this bank asking
from it to pay 165 million kuna (approx. 22 million euros) of
claims.
The chairman of the bank's board of directors, Franjo Lukovic, told
a news conference on Monday that the final outcome of the suit could
be important for the entire business atmosphere in the country and
that it might influence the perception of the legal security in
Croatia as well as plans of domestic ad foreign investors, job
creation and the influx of new foreign investments.
Lukovic added that the case had already attracted the attention
from abroad, as possible injured parties could be the bank's
shareholders, including the biggest shareholders, namely two
international companies UniCredito and Allianz. In addition, the
result of the suit will have an impact on decisions of many Croatian
and foreign business subjects on investments in Croatia.
Lukovic reiterated that business success of the Zagrebacka Bank and
security and safety of its operation were unquestionable. This
year's running yield of the bank is threefold higher than any amount
mentioned in public speculations so far, he added.
The UniCredito's representative and the chairman of the Zagrebacka
Bank's supervisory board, Paolo Fiorentino, said UniCredito was
not going to withdraw from Croatia because of the Tekstil case.
