Foreign Minister Goran Svilanovic has said. #L#
Svilanovic told Vecernje novosti daily which hit the news stands on
Saturday that generals Nebojsa Pavkovic, Vladimir Lazarevic and
Sreten Lukic knew about the indictments even before they were made
public because the Hague tribunal was in contact with all of the
suspects. The fourth indicted person, police general Vlastimir
Djordjevic, is at large and, according to speculations, hiding in
Russia.
If Ratko Mladic is in Serbia and Montenegro, arresting him would
make possible for all other cases to be processed in the country,
the minister said. Svilanovic said this had been confirmed to him
during talks with representatives of the United States and the
European Union.
Commenting on the request that the four generals stand trial in the
country, Svilanovic said it was too early to speculate about the
ICTY's response.
