ZAGREB, Nov 6 (Hina) - Parties which did not have a seat in parliament by the end of last year but pass the threshold at upcoming elections will each be entitled to 40,000 kuna (approx. 5,300 euros) to cover their campaigning costs, the Croatian government decided at the closed-door part of Thursday's session.

Ethnic minority candidates who pass the five-percent electoral threshold will be entitled to 20,500 kuna each. Parties with seats in parliament get money from the state to cover campaigning costs per number of seats. The highest amount, about 12 million kuna, goes to the Social Democratic Party. The Croatian Democratic Union follows with about 9.3 mln, the Croatian Peasant Party with 4.3 mln, the Social Liberals with 3.7 mln, and Libra with 2.6 mln. Amounts exceeding one million kuna also go to the Croatian Bloc and the Party of Rights, while the Democratic Centre, the Liberal Party, the Croatian People's Party, and the PGS regional party are due between 530,000 and 820,000 kuna.
