ZAGREB, Nov 4 (Hina) - This year's demining activities have resulted in 214 square kilometres of soil, previously suspected of being mine-infested, declared free of mines, the Croatian Mine Action Centre Council said on
Tuesday.

being mine-infested, declared free of mines, the Croatian Mine

A total of 193 million kuna (EUR25.4 million) was spent on mine-
clearance from January through September, most of which came from
the government budget, the rest from public companies and
donations.
In said nine-year period, 3,379 mines and explosive devices were
eliminated, as were 3,876 pieces of unexploded devices.
Croatia is currently demining 32 locations covering 7,565,686
square metres. This year there were six accidents in mine-clearing,
with eight casualties, which is 40 percent less than in 2002.
