According to an opinion poll conducted by the GfK Centar agency in
late September, 1,000 respondents were asked to assess the success
in the implementation of several projects launched by the
government. Seventy percent of the respondents covered by the
survey were happy to see successful construction of highways.
Forty-nine percent were satisfied with the development of tourism,
and 44% with the country's preparations for entry into the European
Union.
Low marks were given to efforts aimed at reducing the foreign debt,
with 85 percent of respondents saying they were dissatisfied with
the state of affairs in that field.
Eighty-two percent were dissatisfied with bids to curb corruption
and crime, and 80 percent were unhappy about efforts aimed at
creating new jobs and improvement of living standard.
Three quarters of respondents were not satisfied with the auditing
of privatisation schemes, and over 70 percent with overall economic
growth and the reform in the judiciary.
