DUBROVNIK, Oct 26 (Hina) - A two-day international conference on the application of the U.N. Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women in Central and Eastern Europe ended in the southern Adriatic
resort of Dubrovnik on Sunday.
DUBROVNIK, Oct 26 (Hina) - A two-day international conference on
the application of the U.N. Convention on the Elimination of All
Forms of Discrimination against Women in Central and Eastern Europe
ended in the southern Adriatic resort of Dubrovnik on Sunday. #L#
The event, which began on Saturday, pooled some 60 representatives
from Hungary, Romania, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Poland, and
Croatia. In attendance were also observers from Bosnia-
Herzegovina, Montenegro, Bulgaria, many international
organisations as well as Croatian and international NGOs.
The conference, which was organised by the Croatian government and
the United Nations Development Fund for Women, was opened by
Croatian Deputy PM Zeljka Antunovic.
The U.N. Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of
Discrimination against Women binds signatory countries to report
on its application to the Committee on the Elimination of
Discrimination against Women on a regular basis.
