THE HAGUE/ZAGREB, Sept 24 (Hina) - The trial of former Yugoslav army general Pavle Strugar, indicted for war crimes in Dubrovnik in 1991, will start before the UN war crimes tribunal in The Hague on October 9, tribunal spokesman Jim Landale told Hina on Wednesday. #L# Strugar voluntarily surrendered to the tribunal on October 21, 2001 and was provisionally released in December that year pending trial. The tribunal issued an order on September 17 demanding that Strugar return to the UN detention centre by October 6. At his initial appearance before tribunal judges, Strugar pleaded not guilty to crimes he was charged with. In the indictment issued on February 22, 2001, chief prosecutor Carla del Ponte accused Strugar, Admiral Miodrag Jokic, Admiral Milan Zec and Captain Vladimir Kovacevic of war crimes committed during attacks on Dubrovnik from October 1 to December 7, 1991.
