KRSKO, Sept 3 (Hina) - Croatian Economy Minister Ljubo Jurcic said on Wednesday the country's demand for compensation for undelivered electricity from Krsko, the nuclear power plant co-owned with Slovenia, from 1 July 2002 to 19 April
2003 would be tackled by the Croatian-Slovene commission following the implementation of a deal on Krsko at a session in October.
KRSKO, Sept 3 (Hina) - Croatian Economy Minister Ljubo Jurcic said
on Wednesday the country's demand for compensation for undelivered
electricity from Krsko, the nuclear power plant co-owned with
Slovenia, from 1 July 2002 to 19 April 2003 would be tackled by the
Croatian-Slovene commission following the implementation of a deal
on Krsko at a session in October. #L#
Talking to reporters after the commission's third meeting in Krsko,
Slovenia, today, Jurcic said the two sides agreed the plant's
current operations must not be brought into question either from
the ecological, financial, or economic aspect.
It was also agreed that unresolved issues from the past period
should be dealt with separately from the plant's current
operations, Jurcic said, adding that the main issue was
compensation to Croatia for undelivered electricity in the stated
period.
The minister said it was agreed the issue should be tackled by the
inter-state commission at its next meeting, tentatively scheduled
for the first week of October.
Slovenia's minister for the environment, space, and energy, Janez
Kopac, has confirmed Croatia's demand for compensation will be
addressed at the commission's next session, when elements
pertaining to the claim have been submitted.
Croatia's power utility company sent to the Slovene side in mid-May
a claim for the payment of US$54 million for undelivered
electricity from Krsko between 1 July 2002 and 19 April 2003.
