"The two countries must cooperate more closely to solve the issue of
persons who were killed or went missing during the Homeland War,"
Mesic said in an interview with Croatian Radio.
He added that Croatian institutions, too, had to help in tracing
Serbian citizens who went missing in Croatia.
Mesic reiterated that the topics to be discussed in Belgrade
concerned refugees, and restitution of the property of physical and
legal persons.
Asked whether he and his hosts would discuss open border issues,
primarily that of the isle of Sarengrad in the Danube river, Mesic
said he expected that issue to be discussed only in principle.
"We will talk about it only in principle, about the armies being
withdrawn from the border, about border control being transferred
to civilian bodies, and about establishing normal cross-border
communication," he said.
