Vecer says Croatia has even formally "let go of" Macedonia on the
road to the European Union, while Utrinski Vesnik harshly
criticises the treatment accorded the Macedonian head of state in
Croatia.
In an article headlined "Cold Shower in Zagreb", Utrinski Vesnik
underlines that Croatia has clearly said goodbye to Macedonia, as
evidenced, among other things, by the cancellation of an address
Trajkovski was to deliver in parliament. The official explanation
was that the opposition had left the parliament chamber, but the
newspaper says the real reason was the refusal of all MPs to hear
Trajkovski out because they no longer consider Macedonia Croatia's
equal on the path to Europe.
Utrinski Vesnik also points to the inappropriate treatment given
Trajkovski even during the official part of the trip. Trajkovski
strolled down Zagreb with mayor Vlasta Pavic, which in some way
represents a slap in the face by Croatian President Stjepan Mesic
because when the latter visited Skopje, Trajkovski accompanied him
for a stroll and coffee downtown, said the daily.
Utrinski Vesnik reproaches Croatian Television for the
inappropriate coverage of Trajkovski's visit, and concludes by
slamming Croatia for the unfair political and diplomatic treatment
of the Macedonian head of state.
